康奈尔大学区域规划硕士

康奈尔大学的城市区域规划系(CRP)隶属建筑、艺术与规划学院(AAP)。 该系授予三个不同的学位：城市与区域规划硕士(MRP)、历史保护规划硕士(MA)、博士学位 (PhD)。与其他两个学位相比，MRP的人数比较多（30~50人，每年各有不同），它主要有三个主攻方向(concentrations)：

1. 用地与环境规划
2. 经济发展规划：社区与区域
3. 规划领域的国际研究

然而，如果一个学生不愿意选择以上的任何一个作为其主攻研究方向，那么他可以在导师的指引下，单独设置自己的专业主攻。而康大的所有资源面向学生全面开放。该学位的必修学分为60，其中的一半可以为选修课所得学分， 这给予学生发展自己专业特长的弹性空间和可能性。而在第二学年，针对自己的兴趣爱好，学生们还可以为自己量身定做自己的独立研究课程。

除了常规的课程设置，CRP还给予学生校外学习的众多机会。时长较短的有半个月的设计课课程，较长的可有一学期的海外课程。华盛顿和罗马两地各有历时 一学期的课程，很受学生欢迎，在以下链接可以找到相关信息：

虽然该系属于康奈尔大学私立院系的一部分，但其学费与公立院系的专业基本相当。专业每年的学费大约为26,000美金，而对于那些在课余时间做助教或者助研的学生，该专业通常会给予一定金额的补贴（大约每年会有6,000美金）。因此，在学生们考虑研究生专业学费支付难易时，这不失为一个加分因素。

MRP Program at Cornell University

This is an introduction of the urban planning master program at Cornell University by an MRP candidate of Cornell.

The urban planning master program at Cornell University is located in the College of Architecture, Art and Planning. It comprises three different degrees: Master of City & Regional Planning(MRP), Master of Arts in Historic Preservation Planning (MA), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D). Usually MRP has a bigger size of class (30 to 50, depends on the year) than the other two and has three main concentrations:

1. Land Use and Environmental Planning
2. Economic Development Planning: Communities and Regions
3. International Studies in Planning

However, if a student does not wish to take a concentration in one of these areas, he or she can design an individual concentration in planning in consultation with his/her faculty advisor. Students will have access to the whole of Cornell University. The total required credits torward the degree is 60, about half of which could be elective, which gives more flexibility and possibility to develop his/her own specialty. Students can further tailor their course of study through the second-year independent exit project as well.

Other than the regular curriculum, CRP also offers great opportunity to study out side of the school. The period runs from half month workshop to one semester long abroad program. Although the program is located in the private sector of Cornell University, its tuition almost equals to the public sector. Currently, the tuition is about $26,000 per year, and usually the program will offer certain amount of stipend for the students who work part-time as TA or RA for the faculties (about $6,000/year). Therefore, it is a big plus when students are concerning about the affordability of graduate program.
